Representing our country at the World Senior Taekwondo Championship, Görkem Polat lost to Hugo Arillo Vazquez in the men’s 54 kg semi-finals and finished the championship third in the world.
The World Senior Taekwondo Championship continues in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Going on the tatami at 54 kg in the championship, Görkem Polat defeated Anas Aldabba from Palestine in the 1st round. Polat defeated Taiwan’s Po-yen Chen in the 2nd round, and defeated Mexico’s Cesar Rodriguez in the 3rd round. Görkem Polat, who went through with the disqualification of Riad Hamdi from Saudi Arabia in the quarter-finals, defeated Hugo Arillo Vazquez in the semi-finals and became the 3rd in the world and won the bronze medal.
