Golden Globe nominees announced: Finnish actor included

There is a Finnish actor among the Golden Globe nominees.

Actress Alma Pöysti is nominated for a Golden Globe award. She plays the female lead Aki Kaurismäki Dead leaves in the movie that came out this fall.

Pöysti competes for the award for best female lead in a musical or comedy film. Margot Robbie, known from the movie Barbie, and the Oscar winner compete in the same category Emma Stone.

Kaurismäki’s novelty film has enjoyed great international popularity around the world. AP News ranked the dark Finnish comedy among the best films of the year. The American Time magazine chose Kaurismäki’s film as the best of the year.

Film critic Stephanie Zacharek described in Time magazine that Dead Leaves is a “masterpiece” whose small moments reveal something about the core of humanity.

Pöysti has become known, among other things Tove– from the film, in which he played a children’s writer Tove Jansson. She won the Jussi award for the best female lead in 2021 for the role.

In February of this year, Pöysti won the best actor award at the Gothenburg Film Festival for the film Four small adults.
