The German record champions give FC Bruges no chance and celebrate the next spectacle. A teenager opened the scoring.

Twelfth competitive game, twelfth win of the current season for FC Bayern. The German record champions remain unbeatable in the Champions League: On Wednesday evening, the Munich team dismantled Club Bruges 4-0 (3-0) and kept their perfectly clean slate.

The 17-year-old Lennart Karl took the lead in the fifth minute and made history, while Harry Kane (14th minute), Luis Diáz (34th) and Nicolas Jackson (79th) scored the other goals against the overwhelmed Belgians.

Now the German football record champions can look forward to the giants’ meeting in two weeks with defending champions Paris Saint-Germain with maximum self-confidence. The league leaders also started with nine points.

“He has trained well. His profile can help us. Lennart is always a goal threat,” explained coach Vincent Kompany before kick-off on the streaming service DAZN. It didn’t take long for Karl to put his coach’s words into action.

The young star took off with the ball after a pass from Jonathan Tah. He displaced four opponents and circled the ball, hitting the top right corner with his strong left foot from a good 18 meters. Karl cheered exuberantly.

Inspired by the debut goal for the Bayern professionals, Karl had a number of other good scenes. In the 31st minute he narrowly missed a second goal with a low shot. When Karl was substituted in the 69th minute, he received a lot of applause. The homegrown team developed rapidly in its first year as a professional.

On the sidelines, Kompany not only enjoyed Karl, but also another flawless performance from his team in what was an important duel for the Belgian coach against a team from his home country. Kompany was once a player and coach at RSC Anderlecht – and Brugge is the Belgian record champions’ arch rivals.

The team around the German U21 international Nicolò Tresoldi was just a sparring partner for Bayern. Karl and Co. were able to let the ball run and were hardly disturbed when scoring goals. Konrad Laimer served Kane to make it 2-0, who pushed the ball over the line for his 20th goal of the season.

Luis Díaz hit the ball from a half-left position over the fists of goalkeeper Nordin Jackers and under the crossbar. The Belgian goalkeeper looked bad there. But he also had strong scenes, for example against Kane (58th) or Jackson (76th). But early on it was all about the height of Bayern’s next victory.
