Glennis Grace only gets community service: ‘Disproportionately hard hit’

Glennis Grace has been sentenced to 200 hours of community service for public assault in her Jumbo neighborhood. A suspended prison sentence is not forthcoming because she would have already been punished ‘disproportionately’.

The judge has spoken: Glennis Grace, along with three others, is responsible for the ‘outburst of violence‘ at her local Jumbo supermarket. The Public Prosecution Service demanded a community service order of 200 hours and a one-month suspended prison sentence, but the judge has dropped the conditional sentence.

Disproportionately heavy

According to the judge, Glennis has already been properly punished. Court reporter Saskia Belleman: “It weighs against her that she was the initiator and that she involved minors in her action. But she is also disproportionately affected by what happened (the judge finds, ed.). Glennis will not receive a suspended prison sentence.”

According to the judge, it is evident that Glennis was never provoked. It’s all her fault. “There was no aggression on the part of the Jumbo employees during the entire incident.”

no abuse

The court acquitted Glennis of assault, because there is insufficient evidence for this. She will not be prosecuted for threats. “Motherf*cker, I’ll slit your throat next time you do it,” she is said to have said. However, there are no witnesses who have heard that.

The court does not find it proven that Glennis employee caused Timo pain and/or injury. “The young man was also punched and kicked by others. The co-perpetration of the abuse of Rik has also not been proven,” said Saskia. “Her ex Dion K. is convicted for those parts.”

Not enough

Many people on Twitter don’t think the punishment for Glennis is enough. For example, Daan says: “Well, you go to the Jumbo with a group, three employees were beaten and sat in fear for a long time. Then community service does not feel like an adequate sanction in relation to the suffering of the victims.”

Ton points out, however, that Glennis can now forget about an international career: “With this conviction, her chance to work on her career in America is over. She will no longer enter the country with a conviction for this offence.”
