Serious Request in Den Bosch scores. The yield is already record high with a whole day to go. After five days, DJs Barend van Deelen, Sophie Hijlkema and Mart Meijer have raised 12.28 million euros for Spieren voor Spieren in the Glass House, NPO 3FM announced on Tuesday evening.
Until now, the record amount was in Enschede’s name and dates from 2012. On Christmas Eve – a full day later – the total amount was 12.25 million euros. After the campaign week, that amount increased to more than 13.8 million.
Serious Request has been in Brabant several times in recent years. In 2016, the Glass House stood on the Grote Markt in Breda. That edition, aimed at reducing high mortality due to pneumonia, raised 9.2 million euros. Eindhoven provided the backdrop in 2010, and the campaign against HIV and AIDS raised 7.1 million euros. Serious Request also settled in Breda in 2008, when the proceeds were 5.7 million euros for refugees.
Van Deelen, Hijlkema and Meijer will play records for another day that listeners request after making a donation. The final is on Christmas Eve; then the three radio makers are liberated from the Glass House. Fix You by Coldplay was the most requested record on Tuesday. The Glass House is so busy that the Market has had to close temporarily several times.
To be precise, 12,288,653 euros have been raised in Den Bosch so far.
