Gladbach coach Daniel Farke praises Julian Weigl’s starting eleven debut

Coach Daniel Farke from the Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach liked the first start-up appearance of his new midfielder Julian Weigl.

“You also have to consider the environment, it wasn’t easy. He played in front of a newly formed central defence,” said Farke after the 0-0 draw at SC Freiburg.

“He hasn’t been with us long and by that he’s done really well.” Weigl worked well against the ball and set the rhythm.

The 27-year-old national player was loaned out by the Portuguese first division club Benfica Lisbon from Borussia shortly before the end of the transfer period. The Gladbacher also have a purchase option.

Weigl had already been substituted on in the 0-1 draw against 1. FSV Mainz 05.
