Harry Kane shines as an insatiable goalscorer at FC Bayern and in the English national team. In the past, the 32-year-old has always flirted with a possible commitment as an NFL kicker. The superstar does not rule out changing sports on the sidelines of the World Cup.
“I still want to give it a try. It’s still a long way away, but why not? Of course it takes a lot of training and hard work, but why not?” Kane replied in an Instagram question and answer session for US sporting goods retailer “DICK’S Sporting Goods” when asked about a possible future as an NFL kicker.
The FC Bayern goalscorer is an avowed fan of American football. In the NFL they would be happy about kicker Kane.
“Of course he could. The New York Giants would welcome Harry Kane as their new kicker at any time,” “bundesliga.com” quoted quarterback legend Eli Manning as saying last fall.
FC Bayern is aiming for Kane’s extension
But Kane is still fully focused on his football career. The center forward scored an outstanding 61 goals (in 51 competitive appearances) for FC Bayern last season. His contract at Säbener Straße is dated until 2027. The Munich-based company wants to extend the working paper this summer.
On Wednesday (10 p.m. CET) Kane will start the 2026 World Cup with the Three Lions against Croatia. “Physically and mentally I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in my career,” England’s national team captain told “ITV” during preparation. The motherland of football is hungry for its first title since 1966.
“Playing for England is what I love doing most. I wear the jersey with great pride. Leading another team at a World Cup is a very special feeling. We go into the tournament with high expectations,” said Kane.
