“Glad it’s over”: Scooter’s keyboard player gets out

Scooter keyboardist Sebastian Schilde leaves the EDM band. He accuses the group of forbidding him from attending the past two performances.

On Instagram, the musician says he’s glad “not to be a member of Scooter anymore”. “I’m just really glad it’s over,” he continues.

He does not explain the exact reasons for this step in his video message: “Why, why, why shouldn’t matter now.”

Scooter co-founder Jens Thele told the “Bild” newspaper that Schilde’s contract had expired. He rejects Schild’s allegations. The decision to replace him at the concerts with former band member Jay Frog was “not in his favour”, but “not a stage ban”. In a cinema documentary, it also became apparent “that there are tensions”. The producer also portrays the tension as a “natural process” among musicians.

It is unclear what path Schilde will take after the split from Scooter. In the video he announces that he wants to continue making music. On Instagram he shares messages and stories thanking him for his time in the band. Schilde joined Scooter in 2019, which after various line-up changes since their founding in 1993 currently consists of Michael Simon (synthesizer) and, of course, shouter, speech singer and figurehead HP Baxxter.

On January 12, 2023, the music documentary “FCK 2020 – Two and a half years with Scooter” will be released in cinemas. The film celebrated its world premiere on October 1st at the Hamburg Film Festival and sheds light on the two-year-postponed Scooter tour start in 2020.
