Shock before Cup semi-final: Bayern star is missing injured
03/22/2025 – 1:51 p.m.Reading time: 1 min.

For Bayern, the Champions League continues in the DFB Cup. A top performer will be missing in the duel with Hoffenheim.
Just a few days after the 0-2 defeat in the quarter-final first leg in the Champions League against Olympique Lyon, FC Bayern has certainty: Service clerk Giulia Gwinn is initially injured. The full-back thus misses the semi-finals in the DFB Cup against TSG Hoffenheim this Saturday (you can get to the live ticker here).
What happened? It was played in the Champions League game for just eight minutes when Lyon’s Melchie Dumornay Gwinn hit the left ankle significantly in a clarification attempt. The captain of the German national women’s team initially remained with pain, even had to be treated and in the meantime left the field.
A few minutes later, Gwinn was able to return to the pitch and completed the full 90 minutes in Munich – but was worried about it. Four days later, Bayern now announces that the 25-year-old will be missing in the cup semi-final due to an “injury to the lower leg from the Lyon game”.
For Gwinn, Tuva Hansen becomes the starting eleven back. In addition to the Germans, Bavaria’s captain Glódís Viggósdóttir (knee scattering) as well as the long-term injuries Lena Oberdorf (cross and inner ligament injury), Katharina Naschenweng (Kniegelksdistorsion) and Georgia Stanway (outdoor strap) are also missing.
When Gwinn will be fully operational again remained unclear. In the current season she was already on the pitch in 31 games and is one of the top performers in Munich.
