GIJS does not use the power play against Amsterdam: 7-3 loss, but still in eighth place

The ice hockey players of GIJS HEPRO Groningen lost for the seventh time this season. Amsterdam Tiger was much too strong in the capital: 7-3.

Amsterdam took the lead early and had the game in hand after the first period. Then it was already 4-0. GIJS was unable to utilize the many power play minutes it received during that period. The home team received five penalties in a row, but GIJS did not score.

It works in the second period

After the first break, they succeeded with one more man: Zahir Hup made it 4-1 on a pass from Radovan Rusnak and Flynn Hayward Jones scored 4-2 after an assist from Hup, both in the power play.

In the final period, the team from Amsterdam ran out to 6-2 again, before GIJS could do something back. Note that GIJS made it 6-3 shorthanded. Björn de Haan scored on a pass from Danny Kerstholt. Alexander Karol then scored the 7-3 final score with his third goal of the evening.
