GIANT CLITORIS INSTALLED IN THE OBELISK

In order to disseminate the unknown anatomy of this organ to claim the right to pleasure, the Clito collective, together with other activists, installed a three-meter inflatable clitoris, the work of the French artist Julia Pietri, in the obelisk.

On the morning of Monday, May 22, an artistic intervention was carried out around the reproductive and non-reproductive sexual rights of women and people with a vulva, in order to disseminate information that has been invisible and denied for centuries. Thus, during the day, passers-by came to receive information on the anatomy of the clitoris and to be photographed with Pietri’s work.

These actions are part of the clitoristour that began in Paris in 2021 promoted by the French collective gangduclito, who installed themselves with a giant clitoris in the trocadero of the Eiffel Tower to speak out against Sexual Illiteracy.

During 2022, Las Clito have participated in sex education fairs, workshops, training and various actions in Chile and Uruguay. They were recently in Río Cuarto, Córdoba in a drawing that was jointly managed by Pícara (Feminist communication space) and Analía Pereyra (sexologist and educator at ESI).

This organ, which is present in the bodies of half the world’s population, has been systematically omitted from educational texts, anatomy atlases, gynecology training, etc. The clitoris belongs to the reproductive system, however its only function is pleasure. This monofunctional organ has 10,280 nerve endings, according to the latest scientific research – they point out from the collective –

Knowing and naming the anatomy of the clitoris, as well as revealing its function, is part of prevention and care. All women, girls, adolescents and older adults have the right to know their intimate anatomy in order to relate to their own sexuality in an informed, healthy and pleasant way. Omitting the clitoris perpetuates rape culture. -they point out from the organization-

Among the next initiatives of the collective are actions for the anatomical dissemination of this organ through events that will be disseminated on their social networks.
