WIESBADEN (dpa-AFX) – The situation in manufacturing companies has continued to ease, thanks, among other things, to a significant increase in construction production. In October, production increased by 1.8 percent month-on-month, as the Federal Statistical Office announced on Monday in Wiesbaden. Analysts had expected an increase, but on average had only assumed a slight increase of 0.3 percent.
However, the previous month’s production increase was revised downwards. In September, production rose by a revised 1.1 percent. A slightly stronger increase of 1.3 percent had previously been reported. Production fell sharply in August, after having already fallen several times over the course of the year.
“The positive development of production in October 2025 is due, among other things, to the increase in construction production by a seasonally and calendar adjusted 3.3 percent compared to the previous month,” the statement said. There was also above-average growth in the area of mechanical engineering and in the production of data processing equipment, electronic and optical products.
However, the decline in production in the important automotive industry had a negative impact, it continues. In the previous month of September, the automotive industry made a significant contribution to the increase in production.
The year-on-year development was also a positive surprise. An increase of 0.8 percent was determined for October, while analysts had expected a minus of 0.4 percent./jkr/stw
