Germany scores in the “final” – but the flag goes up

After two draws, the German U17 footballers are under pressure at the World Cup. In order to safely advance, we now need a win against El Salvador.
Defending champion Germany has to worry about progressing at the U17 World Cup in Qatar. Before the last matchday in Group G, coach Marc-Patrick Meister’s team is in second place with two points behind North Korea (4 points) and ahead of Colombia (2). With a win against the bottom of the group, El Salvador (1), the German selection would surely move into the round of 16 of the World Cup.
20th minute: It’s not really dangerous yet. Germany is trying to create chances, but Alegria Sigernes in El Salvador’s goal hasn’t had to stretch so far.
14th minute: In return, El Salvador comes closer to the German sixteen for the first time. Kieffer and Kaba defuse the attack.
12th minute: Germany keeps breaking through on the right. Again the ball lands at Akumu, who delicately receives the ball with his chest. The Cologne player moves into the penalty area and shoots from a tight angle. The ball lands in the goal, but the flag goes up.
6th minute: And suddenly it becomes dangerous. Akumu breaks through on the right and finds Staff at the penalty spot. The Frankfurter takes a shot – but his shot is blocked in time.
4th minute: The German team keeps the ball in their own ranks and tries to go out wide. But El Salvador is close to and in their own penalty area.
1st minute: The ball rolls, but only briefly. Germany kicked off, but some players started into the opponent’s half much too early. It works on the second attempt.

Before the game – By the way: Two years ago, the then U17 team won the World Cup title in Indonesia under the current women’s national coach Christian Wück. In order to maintain the chance of defending the title, we now need a win – or help from the other groups.
Before the game – The German selection only played 1-1 against Colombia at the start. Last Friday, the youth team couldn’t get past another 1-1 draw against North Korea.
