The German baseballers have already left the European Championship in the quarter -finals.

The team of national coach Jendrick Speer remained in Rotterdam against the ten-time winner and co-host Italy without a point and had to give up 0-1. For Germany, the placement round is still in fifth place, where Israel is the opponent on Friday (6 p.m.).

The German selection had traveled to the Netherlands with medal ambitions. In Group A, Germany had secured first place with two wins and the final defeat against defending champion Spain and had therefore moved directly into the quarter -finals.

At the past European Championship in the Czech Republic, the German national team made it into the semi -finals, in the end there were fourth place. The best result celebrated a DBV selection in 1957 with silver, and Germany also won bronze seven times. The last medal was 15 years ago.

The games were also held in Italy and Belgium until the quarterfinals, and from the round of the last eight, the Dutch port city of Rotterdam is played exclusively.

Jaden Agassi, son of the German tennis legend Steffi Graf is not part of the DBV contingent. The 23-year-old, who made a much attention to the German national team in March, was not nominated.
