The DFB team buys their ticket to the World Cup with a football gala. What consequences the victory will have for the tournament next summer.

After the inspiring 6:0 (4:0) in the World Cup qualification showdown against Slovakia, the German national team is going to a World Cup for the 21st time. And the clear victory against the world number 46. has once again improved the starting position for the DFB selection before the group draw on December 5th in Washington DC.

The world association Fifa will only determine the exact regulations for the draw later this week. But national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team will most likely be one of nine teams in draw pot one alongside the three hosts USA, Mexico and Canada.

The reason for this is that Germany will move from tenth place in the world rankings to the top nine – at the expense of Italy, which lost at home to Norway on Sunday evening (1:4). This means that the DFB team will initially avoid favorites such as defending champions Argentina, France, England, Nations League winners Portugal and record world champions Brazil at the XXL finals.

An unpleasant meeting with one of the hosts is also impossible in this scenario. There was a lot of respect for Mexico in particular, also because of the demanding climatic conditions there.

With the direct World Cup ticket, the program up to the tournament is largely fixed. After the draw, the DFB delegation will stay on site in the USA and complete the selection of the district.

Then the second opponent for the international double pack will be decided in March. “Sport Bild” recently reported that the game would be against Switzerland in Basel. The German Football Association (DFB) had already confirmed the meeting with the Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire) on March 30 in Stuttgart, subject to a group duel at the World Cup.

There are two more international matches scheduled immediately before the tournament. First on May 31st in Mainz against Finland, then in June immediately before the start of the final round on site against the USA.
