For the German volleyball players, the first stop of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) in Ottawa is not a good place.
The team of national coach Michal Winiarski conceded a 1:3 (23:25, 18:25, 27:25, 19:25) against world champion Italy on Saturday and also left the floor as losers in the third game in the Canadian capital.
Germany’s 3-1 defeat by Brazil was followed by a 3-0 loss to the Netherlands. At the end of the first of three stops of the VNL, the selection of the German Volleyball Association (DVV) meets host Canada on Monday night.
In the VNL, the participants are fighting for important points for the world rankings with a view to qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
