German triathletes far behind in the season finale

The German men had nothing to do with the front places at the season finale of the World Triathlon Championships Series.

In difficult climatic conditions in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, Jonas Schomburg was the best starter in the German Triathlon Union over the sprint distance after 1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running only 33rd place.

Schomburg (1:47:34 hours) finished 3:20 minutes behind Frenchman Leo Bergere, who won the final race and the overall ranking.

Lasse Lührs came in 52nd (+6:20 minutes), Valentin Wernz was 55th (+6:59).

Lena Meißner celebrated her first podium on the big stage on Friday. The Vice European Champion finished third.

Flora Duffy from Bermuda celebrated the victory and thus her fourth World Championship title – the Olympic champion now holds the sole World Championship record.
