After a furious start to the season, Pius Paschke is currently in the form of ski jumping. DSV legend Jens Weißflog puzzles over the a drop in the routine.

“For me that was purely mental or not explained by the training methodology,” Jens Weißflog told “Sport1” about Pius Paschke’s slump in the past few weeks.

The German ski jumper had initially started the season strongly. The 34-year-old celebrated five victories at the beginning of winter and in the meantime led the overall World Cup.

On the four -hill tour, Paschke then missed the big throw and took sixth place in the overall classification. Afterwards, the DSV eagle in the World Cup no longer wanted to run smoothly. In Zakopane and Willingen, the veteran even missed the second round.

German ski jumper looking for the top form

Paschke did not take part in the competitions in Lake Placid and instead took a training block at home. The overall World Cup pork will be again at the start of the World Cup general rehearsal in Sapporo.

“We were already at the front of the World Cup with Karl Geiger and then the tour always pulled our tooth,” made Weißflog a comparison to the recent past: “It is difficult for me to understand that it suddenly no longer works.”

Not only Paschke, but the entire German ski jumping team is located around two weeks before the beginning of the Nordic Ski World Cup in Trondheim (February 26 to March 9).

“At the moment I see it that we can neither keep up with athletically nor technically, especially with the Austrians,” analyzed Weißflog. The World Cup station in Sapporo, Japanese (February 15 and 16), consequently becomes an important indicator for the DSV eagles.
