German hockey men still have to tremble a bit

The German hockey men missed their second victory in a row at the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games.

After the 9-0 opening win against Canada on Tuesday, the world champion couldn’t get past a 2-2 draw against New Zealand and now needs a draw in the final group game against Chile on Thursday to advance to the next round.

With a win, first place in Group A would be secure. The three best-placed teams in the tournament secure tickets for the Summer Games in Paris. The goals for the German selection were scored by Gonzalo Peillat and Tom Grambusch.

Hockey games live at the sports show

The Olympic qualifying games of the German hockey teams in India and Oman will be broadcast live from Thursday on sportschau.de and in the ARD media library.

The German women’s semi-final game on Thursday and the final or third place game on Friday will be shown, as will the men’s games with German participation on Saturday and Sunday. “This gives hockey fans the opportunity to be there first-hand when our national teams fight for participation in the Olympic Games. This is a strong signal for the German Hockey Association in the further popularization of our sport.”said DHB board member and sports director Martin Schultze
