This year the German Acting Prize goes to the actors Liv Lisa Fries and Gerhard Liebmann. Fries received an award for her leading role as Charlotte Ritter in the fourth season of the award-winning series “Babylon Berlin”.

Liebmann receives the award as the leading actor in the film “Eismayer”. There he plays a deputy lieutenant who is considered the toughest instructor in the Austrian military and falls in love with a young soldier.

Jella Haase and Dimitrij Schaad were honored in the “Duo” category for their appearance in the Netflix series “Kleo”. Marie-Lou Sellem wins an award for her supporting role in the film “Bones and Names”. Franziska Wulf received the award in the “strong performance” category in the coming-of-age film “Sonne und Beton”, which is about growing up in Berlin’s Gropiusstadt.

Some of the winners were already known in advance. The honorary award for life’s work goes to the actress Thekla Carola Wied (“I’m marrying a family”). The jury’s statement said that the 79-year-old’s name is interwoven with German television like few others. The actress Gesine Cukrowski and the presenter Silke Burmester, who are committed to a contemporary image of women in film and television with their campaign “Let’s Change The Picture”, also received honorary awards.

The acting prize is awarded in several categories by the Federal Acting Association. The award was presented for the first time during the Berlinale 2012. It is intended to honor people who have made a contribution to the development of the art of acting. According to the association, around 4,000 actors belong.
