Gas station employee threatened with large meat knife, perpetrator missing

An employee of a gas station on Parallelweg in Wijk en Aalburg was terrified on August 12. Suddenly that Friday evening she was confronted by a man, who was wearing a black helmet and sunglasses and threatened her with a large carving knife. Bureau Brabant will pay attention to this on Monday evening. This shows that the robber’s loot consisted of cash and twenty cartons of Camel and Marlboro cigarettes.

No images are available of the robbery itself, possibly because the perpetrator had entered the gas station at the back. Cameras did record how likely the same man had been at the gas station two days before the robbery for a preliminary reconnaissance. On the evening of August 12, between nine o’clock and a quarter past nine, it was recorded how the man walks past the gas station in an almost identical manner and then strikes – out of the picture.

Sweatpants and vest
It is also recorded how he quickly leaves the gas station with the loot. One of the cameras shows, among other things, part of his face, as well as the fact that he was slightly tinted, although that could also be a suntan. Furthermore, the robber has a slim build, he is about 1.70 meters tall and he had a stubble. The man was wearing gray sweatpants and a black hooded jacket. His age is estimated at twenty to thirty years. An investigation has also shown that the man spoke fluent Dutch.

Clothes thrown away
A 112 correspondent previously reported to Omroep Brabant that the police found various items of clothing and boots under the viaduct of the N267 near Heesbeen some time after the robbery. They may have belonged to the perpetrator: it was confirmed in Bureau Brabant that the perpetrator took off clothes during his flight and threw them away. This is a stroke of luck for the police, because that clothing may contain DNA traces.

Yet the perpetrator has not yet been found, hence the call in the investigation program of the judiciary, police and Omroep Brabant. Incidentally, this also suggests that the robbery was the work of two people: the perpetrator was possibly with someone else on a motorcycle that had been noticed by a witness near the gas station. “It is possible that the perpetrator was not alone and that someone else was waiting for him to flee together,” the police suspect.
