Bale said at his retirement as a footballer that he does not yet know where his future lies. ,,I am looking forward to the next phase of my life. A time of change and transition, an opportunity for a new adventure.” It is now clear that Bale is focusing on his great hobby: golf.
Between February 2 and 5, 156 professional golfers and 156 amateurs will participate in the tournament in Monterey, California. Bale acts as an amateur, just like actors Bill Murray and Jason Bateman. The professional golfers include US Open winner Matt Fitzpatrick and top players such as Jordan Spieth and Luke Donald. Bale showed that he can already hit a nice ball.
The end of January Bale already reported in California to compete with the best golfers in the world. The former top footballer from Wales needed little time to impress with his greatest hobby.
Bale received compliments from Jon Rahm, the Spanish number three in the golf world, who thought it was ‘not fair’ that Bale was so good at football and golf. “You can’t be dedicated to one thing and have so much talent for golf,” Rahm said afterwards.
,,He didn’t ask for anything and he doesn’t have to, he’s good enough already. If he can really practice more, he will get a lot better,” said Rahm, who won the US Open himself in 2021 and was already successful 2 times this year.
Bale already indicated during his football career that golf is one of his great passions. The Wales record international previously posed with a banner reading ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In That Order’.
