Gang of thieves caught after a series of home burglaries in Deerlijk

The facts took place between 13 and 17 February in Deerlijk between 6 and 8 p.m.

Three Albanians

To catch the gang, the detective service started an investigation, which enabled them to image a vehicle. In collaboration with the federal police, the suspects were caught red-handed after an attempted break-in in the Arro Ieper police zone. After a chase, the police were able to arrest the gang of thieves.

The suspects were three men of Albanian nationality. They were linked to seven other home burglaries in Deerlijk.

The perpetrators still had the loot in their pocket: three silver coffee spoons, two silver forks, a watch, five gold-colored chains, nine pairs of earrings, a gold-colored key ring and five rings. In addition, an amount of almost 7,000 euros was also seized.

The police were also able to recover some of the burglary material. A screwdriver was the main tool to force the entrance to the residence. The police also provide tips to prevent home burglaries, such as replacing standard door locks, removing steps and installing outdoor lighting.
