What does the game plan look like?
The season starts on Friday, August 15, and ends after 38 match days on May 25, 2026. In order to be able to broadcast every game exclusively live on TV, every match day remains dismembered. As a rule, from Friday to Monday between 2 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Exceptions and shifts are the order of the day.
What happens at the start?
No, the master does not give up in the opening game, and there is no top game at the start. FC Girona and Rayo Vallecano will play the first game of the new season on Friday (7 p.m.).
FC Barcelona will have to ran on Saturday at RCD Mallorca, Atletico Madrid will only be playing against Celta Vigo at Espanyol Barcelona and Real Madrid on Sunday.
Which teams are new?
The promoters are called Real Oviedo, FC Elche and UD Levante. Oviedo returns to the Spanish football upper house 24 years after relegation. Elche managed the direct return, Levante was relegated in 2022. Last season CD Leganes, UD Las Palmas and Real Vallodolid had to leave the league.
Who are the favorites?
The Spanish champion Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or Atletico Madrid has been called since 2005. Of course, the three clubs are also the top favorites for the new season. At most, all other clubs have outsider chances – especially the fourth year -long athletic Bilbao and the fifth villary. The defending champion is FC Barcelona with his German coach Hansi Flick.

What happened on the transfer market?
Stand (August 12), the 20 clubs have spent around 516 million euros for 211 new players. For comparison: Italian series A has around 833 million, in the Bundesliga there are currently around 583 million and more than 2.3 billion in the English Premier League operating.
Real Madrid in particular struck the transfer market and, among others, won Dean Huijsen (62.5 million from Bournemouth), Álvaro Carreras (50 million of Benifica Lisbon), Franco Mastantuono (45 million of River Plate) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (10 million from FC Liverpool).
FC Barcelona’s top transfer is goalkeeper Joan García from the city rival Espanyol. In addition, Barca Marcus Rashford (loan from Manchester United) guided to the league.
Atletico Madrid strengthened with Alex Baena (42 million from Villarreal), Dávid Hancko (26 million of Feyenoord), Johnny Cardoso (24 million by Betis Sevilla) and Giacomo Raspadori (SSC Naples).
Which players left the league?

What else was going on during the summer break?
FC Barcelona wants to get rid of the German national goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. Finally, a mud fight raged. The keeper is currently injured, a disciplinary procedure ran against him, most recently the captain’s armband was taken from him and then admitted again. The successor is already there with Joan García, whom the Catalans had signed as the new number one of Espanyol Barcelona in summer.
