G-Star reissues archive tracks from the 2000s

G-Star Raw dedicates its latest collection to the past, bringing 2000s style back to the store floor. The nostalgic Y2K collection was curated by model Rose Bertram, as the brand announced on Thursday.

For the Y2K-style collection, Bertram used the best pieces from the archive of the brand, founded in 1989, whose denim designs of the time were instrumental in spreading and popularizing the style. “I picked my favorite original designs, all from 2000,” revealed Bertram. All designs have been “reissued without any changes or additions,” bringing “truly the year 2000 into 2022.”

The result is a collection that breathes new life into the iconic ‘200s look with a fitted T-shirt with a large logo, a mini skirt and a cropped denim bustier dress, and camouflage pants.

The fashion of the late 90s and 2000s owes its current revival to social media. TikTok in particular plays a key role in spreading the fashion of the noughties, which Generation Z discovered for themselves and chose as the next trend.

“I love the ’00s. When G-Star asked me to curate the Y2K collection, straight from their archive, I just had to say yes,” said Bertram, who was born in 1994 and witnessed the first wave of the Y2K trend, about working with G-Star. Star.

The G-Star Raw Y2K collection will be available from October 18th.
