Frustrated striker Gravenberch thinks Telstar deserved more: “Everyone was hungry”

A very exciting final phase, but no points for Telstar. The Witte Leeuwen lost 1-2 to De Graafschap in front of their own audience. Afterwards, frustration dripped from the face of attacker Danzell Gravenberch. “We conceded nasty goals.”

More often this season, Telstar has suffered an unnecessary loss of points. Players and coach can draw the same conclusion every time. It lacks scoring ability. The Velsen team only scored thirteen times in fourteen matches. “We will get into scoring position,” says striker Danzell Gravenberch in front of the camera after the loss. “That’s not the reason, but I don’t have an explanation. I don’t believe it has to do with sharpness, because everyone was hungry.”

“Statistics”

Frustrations are clearly visible at Gravenberch after the defeat, coach Mike Snoei also thought that his team deserved much more. “We forgot to pull the trigger, because I think we played an excellent first half. All statistics are in our favor, but we don’t score.”

Injuries

What also doesn’t help is that Snoei is missing a lot of players. Jay Kruiver, Ronald Koeman Jr., Christos Giousis, Mees Kaandorp, Youssef El Kachati and Jorginho Soares were injured in the stands. “I hardly dare to say that,” said Snoei. “Because we are in a place in the rankings where we do not want to be.”

After fourteen matches, Telstar is in nineteenth place. Next Friday the opponent will be FC Den Bosch in Brabant.
