Everything we know about the new Elden Ring spin-off, which will not be a direct sequel but will focus on the multiplayer mode.
From Software has strongly denied any speculation about the creation of Elden Ring 2, but apparently the rumors have not gone too far: the next game from the Japanese studio will be a multiplayer spin-off based on its phenomenal success of 2022. Called Nightreign, the game will arrive on PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox in 2025.
A trailer for the upcoming multiplayer game debuted at The Game Awards 2024 and you can find it below:
The multiplayer spin-off —
Elden Ring’s PvP and co-op features thrived on the game’s massive popularity and arguably underlined the potential of a standalone title based on the same concept. One of the major updates published for Elden Ring after its launch already showed FromSoftware’s interest in this direction, given that the Arena update was entirely focused on PvP.
It’s not Elden Ring 2 but… —
So, even if From Software doesn’t come out with a traditional sequel, the Elden Ring IP will be with us for a while yet, not only thanks to the developer’s next title, but also because Tencent is reportedly working on a gacha game Elden Ring. The latest title launched by FromSoftware is Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, an expansion of the open world RPG. Released in early 2024, the DLC – controversially – was nominated for the prestigious Game of the Year award at the TGA 2024. Elden Ring: Nightreign will instead be a new cooperative action adventure for three players, and will arrive in 2025 on PC , PS4, PS5 and Xbox.
