If you take a walk in the garden of the Mariaburcht residential care center in Dentergem, there will be face to face with special Neerhof animals such as the Izegemse Koekoek, the yellow of Montaigne and the Ronquières Kalkoen. The Zoo, the sixteenth Heritagehof in Flanders, was realized in collaboration with the Living Heritage Foundation.
“We have a breeding program for sheep and goats,” says Jan Martens of the Living Heritage Foundation. “We are looking for partners who can keep our breeds in a good way. Those locations will then receive the label from Heritagehof.”
