The prize money at this year’s French Open for tennis professionals increases to a total of 49.6 million euros.
That is 12.3 percent more than last year, when the Spanish record champion Rafael Nadal and the Polish world number one Iga Swiatek triumphed at the sporting highlight of the clay court season in Paris.
This was announced by the organizers of the French Open on Friday. This year’s winners in the women’s and men’s singles will each receive prize money of 2.3 million euros.
First round losers get 69,000 euros. The second Grand Slam tournament of the year begins on May 28 this year.
