After a gripping final, Germany is European Basketball champion. Franz Wagner celebrated this with a special gesture.

The world champion is now also a European champion: Germany’s basketball players have won the European Championship title. With 88:83, the DBB selection around playmaker Dennis Schröder defeated Turkey.

After the game, the Fiba basketball association honored the so-called all-star-five, i.e. the best Starting Five (starting line-up in basketball) of the tournament. In addition to Dennis Schröder, Franz Wagner was also there. And the German Forward accepted its award with a special gesture. Because Wagner wore his big brother Moritz’s jersey, who missed the tournament due to injury. The center suffered a cruciate ligament tear in December 2024. At the title party, Franz Wagner also wore his brother’s jersey with number 13.

In addition to Schröder and Wagner, the Turkish silver winner Alperen Şengün, Greece’s Giannis Antetocounmpo and the Slovenian Luka Dončić were also elected in the best five of the tournament.

Dennis Schröder was also elected as the most valuable player of the European Championship. The 31 -year -old playmaker from the Sacramento Kings had already received this award at the 2023 World Cup.
