After the intoxicating victory in the Champions League against Galatasaray, Frankfurt also wanted to win in the Bundesliga. But it set a bitter bankruptcy.

Eintracht Frankfurt has had to take a bitter bankruptcy in the Bundesliga. Three days after the intoxicating 5-1 victory in the Champions League against Galatasaray Istanbul, it set a 3: 4 (1: 2) bankruptcy against Union Berlin. The man of the game for the “Iron” was Oliver Burke, who scored three goals (32nd, 53rd, 56th minute). Ilyas looked at the guests from the capital in the 9th minute. Nathaniel Brown (45.+3), Can Uzun (80.) and Jonathan Burkardt (penalty, 87.) met on the side of the Frankfurt. In the final phase, Union coach Steffen Baumgart saw the red card.

Frankfurt misses the return to two in the table and can be found in sixth place with six points. Union jumps from the table cellar with six points and is now tenth.

Less than 65 hours after the brilliant 5: 1 final whistle against Galatasaray Istanbul, Toppmöller put on his team’s revenge. “We lost to the boys here at home last year and have it in mind. A certain anger is already there,” said the 44-year-old. In the unsuccessful attempt by a revenge, he trusted three fresh forces compared to the football festival on Thursday, including keeper Kaua Santos after cruciate ligament injury.

After a phenomenal XXL choreography on the motto game day “100 Years of the Waldstadion”, Eintracht made a false start-the first shot caught Santo’s ice cold: Union Toptorhäger looked at his fourth goal of the season from 20 meters. However, the SGE did not really let it shock, immediately tore the game control and put a lot of pressure in front of 59,500 spectators.

Ex-Frankfurt Frederik Rönnow had to intervene several times in the Union goal against Nathaniel Brown (7th), Farès Chaibi (16.) or Uzun (20th). After that, the Berliners got more access on the defensive and set a merciless counterattack: after Steilpass by Andrej Ilic, the fast Burke remained alone in front of Santos Cool. The Eintracht tried to make a harmless long -range shot from Brown crucial seconds before the break whistle.

After the change of sides, the same picture: Eintracht pressed and tried, but Union countered from a compact defensive. First the outstanding burke nodded a flank from Ilic, then he chipped the ball after a catastrophic mistake in the Frankfurt development game across Santos to the triple pack. Frankfurt appeared after the double strike, and only developed the risk of scoring late. Uzuns and Burkardt’s hits were no longer enough. Union coach Baumgart was still so upset about the penalty decision at Burkardt’s hits that he saw the red card.
