France’s captain is missing from the semi-final against Germany

France and Germany meet in the semi-finals of the Nations League. An important player from “Les Bleues” will be missing.

The French footballers will have to do without captain Wendie Renard in the Nations League semi-final against Germany. As can be seen from the published squad, the defense chief will not be at the game on February 23rd (9 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online) in Lyon due to a thigh injury.

Striker Delphine Cascarino is back in the 24-man squad for the first time since tearing her cruciate ligament in May. With a win in the semi-finals against France, the DFB team would have secured their ticket to the Olympics. The two finalists qualify for the Olympics alongside hosts France.

Should the French defeat the German team, the third team would also be there and the DFB selection would have a second chance against the loser of the game between world champions Spain and the Netherlands. The game for third place and the final will take place on February 28th. National coach Horst Hrubesch’s selection must then compete in Seville or Heerenveen.
