The ceremony attracted many members of the club and sports enthusiasts to Zandvoorde. Everyone wanted to take a picture with Fran and a glimpse of her medals. With her gold in the 500 meters, a silver and two bronze medals, she puts firmly on the map not only herself but also Ostend as a sports city.
“If I come here now and see how everyone is so moved, that does a lot to me and that is really an indescribable feeling,” Vanhoutte said.
