Four explosives were found during the investigation of the soil near Havelterberg. It concerns three five hundred pounders and one hundred pounder.

The research at the Holtinger field shows that an explosive is located deeper in the soil than expected. To determine how they can be cleared safely, additional research will soon follow at a deeper layer in the soil.

Work is being done on the Havelterberg to restore nature. First, the soil had to be examined for possible explosives from the Second World War.

During the war, Fliegerhorst Havelte airfield was located at that location, which was bombed several times by the Allies during the war.

According to the province of Drenthe, the situation on the Havelterberg has not changed compared to before the research. The explosives found are safely covered, so there is no danger to the environment.

The trails are open to the public again.
