On Thursday, Red Bull made the driver change from Liam Lawson to Yuki Tsunoda perfect on the side of Max Verstappen. A decision that had already emerged since the China GP. Ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher again criticizes the decision of the Formula 1 team and warns the Japanese that his career is now at stake.
After two races of the new Formula 1 season, Red Bull Racing has bright excitement. The end of Liam Lawson has been decided. Ex-pilot Ralf Schumacher criticized the racing team around consultant Helmut Marko and team boss Christian Horner recently in the “Sky” podcast “Backstage pit lane”. Now the ex-racing driver followed.
“Red Bull urgently has to draw consequences. I don’t think it any more harmonizes. Christian Horner seems to have been wrong. It was really bad in the management area. Helmut Marko, who pressed Lawson too far into the cockpit, was not far away from a total failure,” said the TV expert in conversation with “Sky”.
Formula 1: Schumacher would have rejected Red Bull offer
At the Japan Grand Prix, Yuki Tsunoda will sit in the second Red Bull cockpit for the first time. Schumacher cannot understand that the Japanese took the step of the Racing Bulls to the side of Max Verstappen. “I would have rejected it. The car is just a problem. Now he is coming to a new, difficult car without tests, alongside Max Verstappen. I don’t see where he can win,” emphasized the 49-year-old.
So far, “Tsunoda has done a great job this year. However, you have to say that Lawson was not so worse in the past year in direct comparison,” says Schumacher: “But I think that he can get more than Lawson out of the Red Bull. I think that the exaggerating car is better.”
Nevertheless, Schumacher would have advised the 24-year-old to have a different approach: “However, if he is as far away from Verstappen as Lawson, it was for his career. I would have finished my season and had looked somewhere else.”
