Formula 1 will stop in Miami until 2041. The premier class of motorsport announced an XXL contract extension of another ten years with the Grand Prix in Florida.

Miami has been a racing calendar since 2022 and had already received an agreement for ten years at that time. No other stage has a longer contract in the racing calendar.

“In just three years, the Miami Grand Prix has established itself as one of the most important and spectacular events in our calendar, it is an extraordinary example of quality and vision that represents the spirit and ambitions of Formula 1 in the United States,” explained Formula 1 Managing Director Stefano Domenicali.

The contract extension is “a strategic milestone of enormous importance”, which strengthens the presence of Formula 1 in the USA.

A course through the city center was once planned

The planning for the Grand Prix in Miami once went smoothly. Initially, a course in the city center was favored with passages directly on the coast, but this project failed due to the city’s appeal. The route in Miami Gardens around the Hard Rock Stadium, the home venue of the American football club Miami Dolphins, was finally approved.

Max Verstappen won the first two editions in the Red Bull, last year Lando Norris celebrated his first career victory in the McLaren. In addition to Austin (since 2012) and Las Vegas (since 2023), Miami is the third US race in the 24 Grand Prix racing calendar.
