It is not entirely clear where exactly the Scuderia Ferrari is after the first two racing weekends of the 2025 Formula 1 season. But everything indicates that the red behind McLaren, Mercedes and the Verstappen-Red Bull only play the fourth violin. Lewis Hamilton’s sprint victory in Shanghai could not hide this.
In order to reduce the gap to the top, new parts are already available in Maranello. The newspaper “Corriere della Sera” reports. There is talk of a large update package that can soon be used.
Does a new underbody fix the Ferrari problems?
The heart of the package is therefore a completely new underbody, from which the team hopes for a leap. According to the report, it is not only expected that the new soil maximizes the strengths of the SF-25, but also the previous weak point, the rear, stabilizes and more agile.
At the upcoming race in Japan, however, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will not be able to benefit from the new underbody. According to the “Corriere della Sera”, the new part is only to be built under the SF-25 at the fourth race weekend of the season in Bahrain.
Ferrari in the Formula 1 World Cup is already under pressure
The red already have time to lose. According to their disqualifications in China, the two pilots only bring it to nine or eight points in the driver’s ranking. The tip is already rushed by more than 30 points.
The status quo is similarly dramatic in the constructors, in which Ferrari is currently only in fifth place. 61 points are already missing in McLaren, 40 on Mercedes.
