Formula 1 record world champion Lewis Hamilton threatens a new negative record at the Austria Grand Prix. If the Ferrari star in Spielberg does not drive on the podium, he would set up a sad record.

The Formula 1 season 2025 has so far been one to forget for Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton. Especially for the British, who could not drive to the podium once in the first ten races of the year. Only at the sprint races in Shanghai and Miami did the seven-time world champion go to the top three.

If this horror series continues in the upcoming race in Austria (UA live on RTL+), the 40-year-old would set up a new personal negative record and for the 13th time in a row to miss the podium for a Formula 1 race. This has never happened to him over the course of his career over 18 years.

Third dry spell in Hamilton’s Formula 1 career

The Brit was last on the podium at the Las Vegas Grand Prix last year. Since then he has won three fourth and fifth places as the best results. In the Ferrari dress, he was never on the podium after a main race.

The superstar has only experienced twice in the course of his career. From the end of 2009 to mid -2010 he stayed for McLaren in ten consecutive races without a podium. 2023/24 then followed a series of twelve races without a champagne shower for Mercedes. He stopped this brand at the last race in Canada when it was only sixth again.

Bitter for Hamilton and Ferrari: Team colleague Charles Leclerc has already proven this year that you can drive on the podium with the SF-25. The Monegasse made the leap in Saudi Arabia, Monaco and Barcelona. However, he is still waiting for a racing victory in 2025.
