Mercedes has dominated Formula 1 at will so far this season. According to Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari should not be written off in the World Cup race yet.
George Russell won the Formula 1 opener in Australia, after which Kimi Antonelli celebrated five times in a row: Mercedes has so far been the measure of all things in the premier class of motorsport.
Behind them, Ferrari has established itself as the second force. The Scuderia is currently 79 points behind the Silver Arrows in the team rankings. “Never say never,” quotes “formula1.com” Hamilton regarding the title race. The 41-year-old believes in Ferrari and the SF-26.
“As far as the title is concerned, I think we can still outperform the competition in terms of the development of the car,” said Hamilton: “Our car is very good, the downforce package we have is really good.” Ferrari last won the constructors’ championship in 2008.
Hamilton wants to annoy his former team in Formula 1
Hamilton was on the podium three times in the first six races. The seven-time Formula 1 world champion now wants more.
“We need to redouble our efforts and make sure we’re always one step ahead of everyone else in terms of development so that we can go faster through the corners and make up the gap that we might lose on the straights,” explained Hamilton.
Formula 1 continues this weekend in Barcelona, Spain.
“We can improve efficiency, so maybe reduce air resistance to try to catch up with this speed gap. And a lot of different things happen on these different tracks, so never say never – we’ll just keep pushing and give absolutely everything,” Hamilton wants to stand up to his former team Mercedes in the coming months.
