Ferrari had arrived with great expectations in Silverstone, home track for Lewis Hamilton. Hopes shipwrecked in the rain that fell in the race. The fourth place of the seven -time world champion F1 partially improves a negative balance, which thickens other clouds around the future of Frederic Vasseur at the helm of the Italian team. The French, in fact, could leave the role of Team Principal at the end of 2025. A hypothesis that Hamilton himself would gladly discard, as he reiterated in an interview with the British broadcaster Channel 4.

TRUST

In fact, Lewis has no doubts: Ferrari must continue with Vasseur at the helm: “I think Fred is really the right man to bring us to the top. For this reason too I am working as much as possible to support it and to make the necessary changes, which are not few”. These words echo with what was said a month ago, before the race in Canada, when Hamilton had admitted: “I love working with Vasseur, it is the reason why I am here and we want to continue together. He has my full support”. In addition to feeling tied to Vasseur, Hamilton also seems to warn the responsibility of making results with Ferrari. A long journey, which began not without difficulty, but still stimulating: “Fred brought me to this team and therefore I owe him a lot. As soon as he arrived in a new team, it is noted how great the organization is and set up the structure. Whoever has recently had a new look compared to those who have been there for a long time. And so the positive side is identified in a very clear way but also the negative aspect”.

UNCERTAINTY

For Vasseur it is the second important certificate of estimate received in the last few days. In fact, only a week ago, the colleague and rival Toto Wolff, Mercedes Team Principal, had called him one of the best in his role. However, his future at Ferrari remains uncertain. After a 2023 transition and an excellent 2024, closed with five wins and the second place among the manufacturers, the Maranello team aimed to confirm itself as protagonist. And instead, so far, the results have been below expectations: only Hamilton’s victory in the sprint in China stands out. For the rest four podiums in 12 rounds, all signed by Charles Leclerc, but without any success.
