For the racing weekend of Formula 1 in Belgium, rain is the order of the day – typical spa weather! In many fans, memories of legendary rainy battles on the Ardennen -Achterbahn – and because a red car was often drove in front, with Michael Schumacher at the wheel, who quickly earned the nickname “rain master”.
But for the Tifosi, these times are long gone, because in 2025 the reality is: “Must be the water.” The already iconic radio message to Charles Leclerc at the start of the season in Australia proved once again: when it rains, Ferrari usually doesn’t get together much.
Incredible, but true: The last rain victory of the Reds is actually far more than a decade! Fernando Alonso won him in Malaysia in 2012. Since then, the troop from Maranello has had an ongoing thirst route in the wet.
Alonso Last rain winner: Ferrari is puzzled
In the end it was noticeable again Leclerc, who did not get out of place in the rainy Silverstone and found itself next to the route instead of the points: “I wish that I knew 100 percent, which it is. But I think it is never just a single thing – but a combination of several factors that are extremely accomplished and are extremely complicated,” says that Monegasse.
Leclerc is still a mystery to Ferrari’s rain weak: “Rain was always one of my greatest strengths, already in the young classes. But I have to say honestly: Since I am at Ferrari, I have lost a lot of it and have been extremely difficult in the wet.”
Even Ocon has more rain podiums than Leclerc …
The view of the statistics shows that in the 18 rain races that Leclerc has been playing for Ferrari since 2019, he actually only landed twice on the podium. Even more curious: Even Esteban Ocon managed to do this once more often in the same period, the Frenchman was three times in the podium in rain, although he made it onto the podium four times in his career …
Leclerc, however, apparently leaves happiness as soon as the sky opens its locks: “We try to find out why, but so far we have not yet found the exact reason,” he says about the rain -misery at Ferrari: “You can’t really build a car for rainy weather – but for some reason the characteristics of our car are particularly difficult to drive in wet.”
In any case, no particularly good prospects for the wet spa …
