Former Schalke coach Keller joins SV Sandhausen

Third division soccer team SV Sandhausen has hired Jens Keller as their new coach. The 52-year-old succeeds Danny Galm and will be introduced at the next matchday press conference, the club announced.

“He is a coach who has already proven his quality in previous positions and can draw on extensive experience in the Champions League and the two highest German leagues,” said sports director Matthias Imhof.

Keller worked in Germany successively for VfB Stuttgart, FC Schalke 04, Union Berlin, FC Ingolstadt and 1. FC Nürnberg.

“I’m looking forward to this exciting task and would like to be on the pitch with the team as quickly as possible,” announced Keller.

Relegated Sandhausen has 16 points so far and is in eleventh place in the table. It was only on Sunday that the SVS announced its separation from Galm because, as it was said, “the achievement of our goal is now at great risk.”
