Former NBA pro Caleb Swanigan dies aged 25

A death message shakes American basketball. A former NBA professional dies in his mid-twenties.

The basketball world in the US mourns the loss of Caleb Swanigan. The former NBA professional died of natural causes at the age of 25. This is reported by the television station “Wane”, citing the Allen County (Indiana State) coroner’s office.

Caleb played 75 NBA games for the Portland Trail Blazers and Sacramento Kings between 2017 and 2020. The 2.06 meter tall power forward repeatedly struggled with weight problems during his career, which is why he ended his professional career early.

The Purdue University varsity team, for which he played from 2015-2017, tweeted, “The Purdue basketball family is deeply saddened and devastated by the loss of Caleb Swanigan.” It went on to say that Swanigan was “a gentle soul” on and off the pitch.

After retiring from basketball, Indianapolis-born Swanigan began a music career as a rapper, nicknamed “Biggie.”
