Former DFB Vice President Rolf Hocke (†81) is dead

The DFB mourns Rolf Hocke. The association’s former vice president has died. He had made a name for himself especially in Hesse.

Former DFB Vice President Rolf Hocke died on Thursday night at the age of 81. From 2004 onwards, Hocke worked as vice president for legal and statutory issues at the DFB for almost a decade and was a member of the board until 2016. After his work ended, he was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor and made an honorary member of the largest individual sports association in the world.

“Rolf Hocke was a passionate supporter of sport and especially football in Germany,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf. Hocke “left his mark on the DFB as head of the organizing committee for the Frankfurt venue for the 2006 and 2011 World Cups. But above all as DFB vice-president, who knew from his own experience about the unique power of football.”

In addition to his work for the DFB, Hocke also worked primarily in his native Hesse. He was President of the Hessian Football Association for almost two decades and also served as Vice President of the Hesse State Sports Association from 1988 to 2018.
