“The terrible news has reached us that Sidney de Jong suddenly passed away this week,” the baseball association writes on X. “We have no words for it yet. Rest in peace, captain.”
De Jong started out as a catcher for Amsterdam Pirates. He then also played for Kinheim and HCAW. De Jong played as a catcher for the Kingdom team and was captain of the team for many years. In recent years he was active as a coach at Amsterdam Pirates.
