The HSV footballers today receive their second division rival Borussia Mönchengladbach for the quarter-final duel in the DFB Cup. For the first time in general, the Hamburg women are allowed to play a competitive game in the Volksparkstadion. The team of coach Marwin Bolz wants to create great things in front of a big setting.

Last Saturday it was said for the HSV kickers: “We have to stay outside.” As usual, her second division game against 1st FC Union Berlin took place on the training ground 6 at the Volksparkstadion. Today (6.30 p.m.) against Gladbach, the Hamburg women are now moving to the concrete bowl, in which the club’s men are otherwise fighting for points. 15,000 cards have already been sold in the DFB Cup to meet the round of the last eight.

“Support will always be unique,” said midfielder Pauline power in the NDR 90.3 interview. The former German junior national player is certain that one or the other professional from the game of Hamburg will also attend the game: “They want to see what we do in their stadium.”

HSV fails general rehearsal

Power and Co. go favored into the duel with the Gladbach women. Not only because of the home advantage, but also because the HSV was able to conquer the Borussia 2-0 in the first half of the second division in front of a home backdrop. In the table, however, the Hamburgers (sixth place) only have two points ahead of the Rhinelanders.

In addition, Gladbach was able to win his dress rehearsal for the cup duel (2-1 at SG Andernach), while the HSV Union lost 1: 2 and thus suffered a damper in the promotion struggle.

Power: “We want to win in any case”

“Of course we would have liked to choose a different result for the game. But it fits quite well that we cannot deal with the game for so long, but that we are already going directly to the next game again – that of course we want to design differently” , said power. For the 22-year-old and her teammates, the game in the Volksparkstadion is the absolute highlight of the season so far. Because otherwise the HSV soccer players can only dream of four-digit backdrops. For comparison: just 600 fans came to the top game against Union.

And in addition to the experience of being able to appear unusually many followers, it is also about nothing more and no less than moving into the cup semi -final. “We want to win in any case,” Power then also gives the goal for the very special Wednesday of the HSV kicker.
