Kimberley has been driving horse all her life and also did archery. When her mother Annemiek saw Horseback Archery on a movie in which those disciplines are combined, one plus one was two. Despite a painful first lesson, she lost her heart to the spectacular sport. “In a gallop on a horse and then touching the goal with arrow and bow is the most fantastic feeling ever,” said Kimberley.
In the Netherlands there are only two hundred riders who do Horseback Archery. There are three categories: Tower, Hunt and Raid. For each part there are different distances, goals and times that must be achieved. And Kimberley has talent, because she is the only junior for the Dutch team to participate in the Grand Prix in Italy. “That is really a dream come true.”
But to perform as well as possible there must be a lot of training. And she does that as often as possible. Her great strength? “I am never nervous during a competition. That is quite handy if you have to shoot bow from a galloping horse. I just do my best and that’s the best.”
That the sport is best spectacular can be seen in the report below (text continues under the video):
