DFB President Bernd Neuendorf and DFL boss Hans-Joachim Watzke continue to represent German football in the committees of the international top associations. The officials were confirmed at the UEFA Congress in Belgrade for four years in their offices. Neuendorf represents the European Football Union in the Council of the World Association FIFA. Watzke remains a member of the UEFA Executive Committee.

Before the confirmation of Neuendorf in office in four candidates for four posts was safe in advance and took place by acclamation, Watzke had to face ten competitors of an election. The 65-year-old received 48 votes in the first ballot when the 55 UEFA associations coordinated and thus secured one of seven free places. Only the Dutch Frank Paauw had a better result with 49 votes.

Watzke will give up his post in Borussia Dortmund’s management at the end of the year, but wants to be voted spokesman for the Presidium of German Football League (DFL) in September.

Former Ukrainian world-class striker Andriy Shevchenko clearly missed the move into the UEFA Executive Committee. The term of office of Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin runs until 2027.
