The Italian championships in giant slalom have ended for ski racers Federica Brignone with broken bones.

The Italian ski racer Federica Brignone suffered a serious injury at the national championships on Thursday. The overall World Cup winner drove into a goal in the second run of the giant slalom in Val di Fassa and fell heavily. The Italian Ski Association Fisi announced the diagnosis on Thursday: “Multi -fragment fracture of the shin head and the fabric’s head of the left leg”.

After her fall, Brignone was taken to a hospital in Trento and underwent computer tomography there, it said. The 34-year-old now wants to move the medical department to Milan in order to determine the further procedure, including the necessary “surgical process”.

The 34-year-old Brignone had dominated the World Cup a few days ago and secured the large crystal ball and victories in the departure and giant slalom rating with a total of ten wins. At the World Cup in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, she won gold in the giant slalom and silver in the Super-G.

The Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo begin in ten months – a home game for Brignone. How long the medal candidate has to pause is still unclear.
