Fiction and testimonies of survivors

Directed by Luca Brignone, For a new tomorrow reconstructs the true story of the two years of forced cohabitation of this community. Among the first difficulties of integration, the bans, the continuous humiliations and the solidarity of the Italian population.

A story told using historical reconstruction on the one hand, on the other, the interviews with the very few remaining witnesses. Like Simona Nissim, Vilma Papi, Leo Verderber and indeed the senator Liliana Segre. In between, precious archive images never seen before.

«It was a different way of paying homage to the victims of internment», declared the director, «but also to the brave Italians who didn’t turn away, but who instead tried to offer a hand, a smile, a blanket, a piece of bread.”
